Normally, I never do these, but everyone else seems to be, so on the off chance that it might actually help me accomplish something, here goes...

New Year's Resolutions, by [livejournal.com profile] blipvert

  1. Make 2009 suck less for my friends. I'm serious about this one. If something about 2009 is sucking for you, and it's something I can do something about, let me know. Too many people I care about had a lousy 2008, and I can't let that happen again.

  2. Read 50 books this year, and by read that means finish them, not read a few chapters then start on something else. Also, read the books I have rather than visit the crack house book shop.

  3. Work on not being such an attention deficit basket case. The stream of consciousness isn't a river in Egypt, or however that goes. Remember to focus.

  4. Stop making lists. That way lies madness!

  5. Spend more time in the large draughty room with the leaky ceiling. It's good for me. There's fresh air and stuff.

  6. Get to bed at a decent hour. Oh dear... not good....

Don't make lists. *shakes head* You start making lists of lists. And then get nothing done because your just making lists of things to do. Trust me on this one.

And don't write the lists on paper or you'll lose them, and end up writing little notes to yourself to remember where the lists are. And then you'll lose those.

Great icon BTW.

And sticking post-its to your wall is just as bad because you never actually look at them.

I used to write stuff on my hand, that worked.

I do that. Which is why, at this particular moment, I have Kick Ass written on my hand, reminding me to look for the trade volume of said comic.

I must say, I do admire your taste in senseless violence!

The film is coming out later this year and the obsessive compulsive inside me likes to read the source material first. Plus, y'know, it's Mark Millar, an' ye cannae go wrong wi' the wee guy fae Coatbridge.

No you can't! If it's not Scottish, it's crap!!

Speaking of comics featuring senseless violence, have you ever read Those Annoying Post Bros. by Matt Howarth?

Damn straight.

Nope, I'm a relative newbie to comics. I'll put it on my list though. (See what I mean about lists?! They take over your bloody life!)

It is extremely hard to find in print these days. However, if you're curious, I've put up a sample comic at

http://pics.livejournal.com/blipvert/pic/00049yr5/g31

It is over the top, very macabre humour.

You'll probably want to read this page first, as it gives some useful background about the world it all takes place in.

Matt Howarth is a comic genius, largely unsung I think because there just aren't enough sufficiently twisted people in the world to appreciate his work.

(Thank you for opening my eyes about the dangers of making lists! See my updated new year's resolutions.)
